Core Five’s 21 for 21 Project 12 – The Kensington Building for Ashby Capital / Janson Urban

The project at 127 Kensington High Street is breathing new life into the former Pontings department store in Kensington. The existing 1970s building is undergoing a major refurbishment which will see it extended both outwards and upwards. The scheme will enhance the retail and office areas whilst providing a new retail arcade and entrance to High Street Kensington, London Underground Station.

The previously under utilised roof space will be partly replaced with a series of landscaped terraces which will provide sought-after external space and the new facade, including handmade Petersen bricks, will be more sensitive to the surrounding conservation areas.

The project is due to complete in late 2021.

In addition to being comfortably set to achieve BREEAM Excellent, the project will also achieve the WELL Building Standard Gold rating. WELL is a building assessment standard, in some ways similar to BREEAM, however with a greater focus on occupant health and wellbeing.
