The relocation of the existing Mayor of London’s office provides a perfect example of a re-invented building taking advantage of a sustainable building and making it better. The refurbishment of The Crystal Building will achieve a BREEAM Outstanding rating with modern energy and carbon saving techniques including natural ventilation, LED lighting, photovoltaics and GSHP.
Integrating the above will provide better energy performance with carbon savings of 20% which compares to 15% target reduction in the London plan for new build.

By moving to The Crystal, the MoL will save more than £60m over the next 5 years, and it is intended that it will spur the regeneration of Newham and the Royal Docks.
