I am a Partner in our Birmingham office, focussing on leading project delivery and enhancing the firm’s regional capabilities. Through a technically led approach to cost management and attention to detail, I am able to understand complex issues and deliver quality to our Clients at all stages of a project.
I joined Core Five in 2019 and over 15 years industry experience, predominantly within the residential and commercial property sectors across a number of major regional cities for Clients such as Argent, U+I and Present Made. Through my involvement and familiarity with complex city centre regeneration schemes I am able to provide robust cost, risk, procurement and tendering advice despite the challenges inevitably posed by such developments.
I am a British Council for Offices (BCO) NextGen committee member for the Midlands and East Anglia regions.
What do you think is the biggest opportunity for our industry in the next 10 years?
Placemaking. Recent events have highlighted the importance of providing healthy, attractive civic spaces, and the likes of the Paradise development in Birmingham have demonstrated the immensely positive impact these have upon the local economy and well-being of citizens. Placemaking serves as an opportunity to improve mental health and to reinvigorate urban spaces, which in itself will be positive for the construction industry.
What is your favourite building and why?
‘Old Joe’ at the University of Birmingham. A stunning piece of architecture, still the world’s tallest freestanding clock tower and, best of all, the inspiration for the Tower of Orthanc in Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.
