I work in Core Five’s residential team but my experience also spans commercial office, hotel and mixed use developments where I consider the cost of construction from the initial concept stages through to completion and handover. My role is to identify the Clients’ drivers for success and ensure the cost management is strategically set up correctly to deliver the maximum value.
I joined Core Five in 2014 and a lot has changed in that time! I am involved with our Graduate Development Programme ‘Core Foundations’ and am currently helping our Knowledge Working Group roll out a database which will revolutionise our use of tendered cost data.
What attracted you to join Core Five?
There was an exciting, innovative and dynamic spirit which came from being a fiercely independent new company. Coming from a small village in West Yorkshire, the opportunity to work on projects which help shape the skyline of London was also a massive influence on me.
What do you think is the biggest opportunity for our industry in the next 10 years?
I’m intrigued to see how much automation and AI will find its way onto construction sites as technology continues to advance. We’re starting to see early signs with the Spot robot inspector dogs but can R2D2 really cut it as a brick layer on a wet and windy Tuesday in January? We’ll see.
