As an Associate Partner in Core Five’s Corporate Real Estate team, my approach to projects is to be collaborative with the Clients and design team to identify areas where better value can be provided, considering the ongoing costs once the area is in occupation. I work to ensure our Clients’ requirements are always considered on projects and challenge designers to provide cost effective options where applicable.
I joined Core Five in 2018 and have over 18 years industry experience across a range of sectors including corporate real estate mixed use, commercial, heritage, and leisure. I’ve been lucky to work abroad in locations such as Luxembourg, Finland, Sweden, and the Channel Islands.
Within Core Five I am part of the Communications Working Group and have also completed my RICS Assessor training that enables me to support our upcoming APC candidates.
What is the most rewarding part of your role at Core Five?
At Core Five I work in the Corporate Real Estate team. A lot of the projects I work on involve direct engagement with end users and understanding their key requirements is crucial to delivering a solution that works best for them. I use my experience from working in this sector to ensure best value for money is achieved, whilst still meeting their needs. Being part of the team to support clients on these projects, having a positive impact on the overall project and seeing the final outcome once clients occupy the space is a highly rewarding aspect of the role. The opportunity to work with experts in the sector on multiple projects is also a great experience.
Internally at Core Five, I support Trainees and Graduates on their journey to achieve Chartered status. Being able to help them through this, and seeing them successfully gain MRICS status is also a rewarding part of my role internally at the company.
What inspired you to join the construction and property industry?
Before joining the industry, I wasn’t aware of how many roles and routes there were available. I had family who either worked or were partially involved in the industry in one way or another, either working in trades or working for developers. I used to visit family on sites and in their offices from when I was a young child and it helped me see how varied the people and roles were.
I started my career as an Apprentice and was surprised at how diverse the roles were and found that there was a role as a Quantity Surveyor that suited my skills and interests. The fact that the role isn’t 100% office based was a major selling point to me at the time of deciding to pursue this career.
