Harry Horlock joins us as the People Lead, after working in the student accommodations sector. Here’s a snapshot into Harry’s experience and what he is most looking forward to in his new role…
I started out in agency recruitment eventually moving to a role in house, and latterly into a HR dedicated role. I’ve been lucky enough to work in both Public and Private companies with expansion plans, in roles that have covered a broad range of HR skills, this blend will lend itself well to Core Five.
What is the biggest highlight of your career to date?
I think the biggest highlight for me has been improving the engagement scores of the areas I supported. It really showed the cumulative impact everything I did had on the business.
What enticed you to join Core Five?
The focus on the development of our People, I believe being able to make an impact on so many people’s career will be extremely rewarding. Our sustainability credentials are something that attracted me to the Company, as well.
What inspired you to start working in People Teams?
I’ve always been interested in people, and so it seemed like a natural step for me to take on a role where I could speak to a lot of them every day.
What qualities do you believe are important in order to be an inspiring role model for others?
I think everyone’s got their own leadership style, but I think inclusivity is a big one. You’ve got to create environments where everyone is heard, and they feel their opinion matters. This type of leadership makes space for innovation, as people feel safe to share ideas.
What are you most looking forward to about your new role at Core Five?
The chance to really help move the People offering forward at Core Five. There’s the foundations of an excellent culture here, and we can start making the most of that.
