About/Net Zero Carbon Firm
We’ve been operating as a Net Zero Carbon firm since 2019, following a rigorous assessment of our Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. Many consultants exclude Scope 3 emissions; however, this is where over 75% of the emissions sit and so must be considered for a true picture. As part of this we partnered with Sustainable Data Analyst and UN Partner Alectro to thoroughly assess, understand, and reduce our own carbon footprint.
We were one of the first Cost Consultants to become signatories of the United Nations Climate Neutral Now initiative and are members of the UK Green Building Council.
In all this we aim to lead the way for our Clients and industry peers, highlighting how we can work together with strong sustainable practices for a greener built environment.
We have shared the details of our Net Zero Carbon journey on the following pages to encourage and assist other firms in their own journeys. If you would like to find out more about our experiences, then please do get in touch.

About/Net Zero Carbon Firm
Since 2019 Core Five have worked closely with Sustainable Data Analyst and UN Partner, Alectro, to review our Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. Whilst many companies assess their scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions – we continue to go one step further by also assessing our Scope 3 emissions. Our scope 3 emissions represent more than three quarters of our overall emissions, so it is crucial that these are accounted for whilst highlighting the importance of the whole Core Five Team’s contribution for us to better understand our full impact.
Our assessments include a robust analysis of thousands of data points focusing on everything from Core Five facilities, social events, work travel, and even the coffee we drink, to map our carbon footprint and help us become carbon neutral to the accredited standard.
We know we cannot reduce our carbon emissions to zero. We have therefore committed to support charitable projects that sit within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to offset our total company carbon footprint. A survey was carried out for all Core Five staff to vote for their top 3 SDGs to provide guidance on which projects to support. We understand that offsets have their limitations but by carefully selecting projects that aligned with our top SDGs we can offer support to communities in need and provide social benefits such as education, health, food security and improved nutrition, and local employment.
