We recently welcomed Inderjit Dhani as our new Operations Lead! As an integral part of our Business Support function, he will not only keep things running smoothly but will play a key role in supporting our strategy and vision for growth. Here is a snapshot into Indie’s experience and what he is most looking forward to in his new role…
How has your career to date progressed?
After completing my degree in Product and Furniture Design, I took various roles in London designing products for retail, some of which you can still purchase today.
Relocating back to my hometown of Birmingham, I moved into supplier and account management within the video games industry. This led to various roles in category development and planning, working to support high street retailers analyse product life-cycles and consumer trends to grow market share and profitability.
Before starting at Core Five I had spent the previous 14 years in the ever-changing landscape of mobile phone repurposing/recycling. As Head of Operations, I helped deliver a reliable recycling proposition for Individuals, retailers, corporations and government agencies.
What is the biggest highlight of your career to date?
I’m very proud of the success the team I was part of achieved in my previous role. We succeeded in taking a small team (sat around a grandmothers old dining table) to being a multinational company, and ultimately securing the sale of the business. It was not always an easy journey, but one that was constantly challenging and fun.
What enticed you to join Core Five?
I felt that the company was moving in the right direction by growing while still retaining its core values that have made it successful to date. I also enjoyed the personal challenge of working in an industry that was new to me, with a company that shared my values and has a good company culture.
What are you most looking forward to about your new role at Core Five?
There is a lot of potential for meaningful change in the future, whether that comes in the form of people growth, data strategy or office relocation! I’m keen to help deliver the companies long term vision and play an important role in driving these strategies going forward.
How do you enjoy yourself or relax away from work?
I’m a keen cyclist, and I have planned and led a number of adventures across Europe. The most memorable one was a week-long bikepacking (carrying my camping equipment) tour along the Cornish coastline… on a Brompton. It was challenging and fun, with recurring 30% hills and unexpected off-roading, and I can’t wait to do it again.
Photography is also one of my passions, and I enjoy exploring different styles and techniques. Lately, I have been rediscovering the charm of film photography and collecting vintage cameras.
