Reducing embodied carbon is likely to be the defining challenge for our industry in the next decade. Too often, however, we hear of carbon being considered in isolation or, at best, being dealt with separately from cost. For this challenge to be successfully navigated, cost and carbon must be considered together.
Put simply our ECO service aims to optimise your embodied carbon and construction cost, allowing the design of low carbon buildings that manage the impact on the development appraisal.
ECO starts with a rigorous scheme-specific estimate of the embodied carbon content, to which we apply our award-winning construction cost analysis. The two are combined in a detailed optimisation study, which enables our clients to achieve the most advantageous balance of embodied carbon and construction cost for each individual project. Whilst embodied carbon and construction cost are often seen as pulling in different directions, we frequently find opportunities that minimise both.
The output from ECO is a reliable roadmap to minimising a scheme’s embodied carbon, whilst maintaining commercial viability.
