About / Team

Wayne Stathakis
Partner

I am a Partner at Core Five, where I work collaboratively with key private sector clients across commercial, residential, and life science projects. I’m a strong communicator and team collaborator, focused on ensuring the Client’s vision is delivered effectively and within budget through every stage of the design process.

I recently joined Core Five bringing over 17 years worth of cost management experience to the team. My career has taken me across the UK, South Africa, and the USA, giving me a broad and diverse perspective on project delivery.

I’m a versatile, solutions-focused cost manager with a strong background in both the professional and contracting sides of quantity surveying. Over the years, I’ve worked on a number of high-profile commercial, residential, and life science developments in Greater London, including the London Cancer Hub for Socius, The Network Building for Derwent London and Kidbrooke Station Square for Notting Hill Genesis / TFL. I produced the annual Main Contractor Survey Report at my previous employer which was highlighted in Building Magazine and the Financial Times.

What do you think is the biggest opportunity for our industry in the next 10 years?

The biggest opportunity for the construction industry over the next ten years is embracing and scaling digital transformation and sustainable practices. The construction industry is generally one of the poorest performing sectors when it comes to embracing change. By closing this gap and leveraging data-driven innovation, we can positively impact the environment we live in.

What is your favourite building and why?

I’ve always loved the Barbican. Its striking Brutalist architecture, combined with a vibrant mix of activities—ranging from food and theatre to film, art, and music—makes it one of my top destinations for both entertainment and architectural inspiration.
