Ethan is currently studying a Quantity Surveying degree with Birmingham City University and is awaiting to start his third and final year in September. He first joined the company in June 2022 as part of the Core Five Summer Placement Scheme. Upon completion of the summer placement, he aspires to finish his degree and further his career by starting the APC training in order to become a Chartered Quantity Surveyor.
Why did you join C5?
Core Five attracted me as a business due to the continuous opportunities to work on a range of complex projects, all whilst gaining valuable industry experience. So far during my time at Core Five, I have been lucky to be exposed to a variety of interesting projects including, commercial work, residential schemes, office fit outs and stadium.
What is your favourite building and why?
My favourite building is 103 Colmore Row. This is because it symbolises ongoing development in Birmingham’s city centre. Alongside this, it has a unique design and sophisticated façade, which makes it a real stand out in the city’s skyline.
What is your favourite project you have been involved in?
The project I have enjoyed working on the most to-date is the Button Works located in the Jewellery Quarter. This is a listed building which spans back to the Victoriantimes. The project is currently going through the process of being converted into luxury build to rent apartments. Due to the original nature and age of the building the footprint, layout and floor to ceiling height makes the project very distinctive. These factors contribute to the building being a really great opportunity to deliver something special in the heart of Birmingham!
